Local Rivers...

PB240062 smFly fishing for hard fighting wild brown and rainbow trout on their annual migration from Lake Taupo to the head waters of it's tributaries, most of the local rivers hold good numbers of trout all year round,when the spawning runs start these numbers increase dramatically. The brown trout can start their runs as early as January and usually reach their peak about May.

These are magnificent fish and double figure brown trout are not rare.

The Rainbow trout start about April and reach their peak by October, these fresh run silver bullets normally run the rivers in large numbers and a high daily catch rate is possible.

Wilderness Streams...

These streams offer more challenging fly fishing where you can test your skill on Wild Trout just waiting for a well presented dry fly or nymph. The water in some of these streams can be as clear as glass. This offers the oppourtunity for some of the best sight fishing in the world.

These streams run through some of the most scenic country in the central north island. Access is by 4x4 vehicles, rafts or helipcopter.
